You are here: Rv-PartsPlus > Home > Product_tests > SMI_Stay_In_Play > Stay-In-Play Read what Stay-In-Play customers have to say: Hi Rob, I installed the SMI Stay-In-Play on my 1998 Cavalier without any difficulty. I located the Box in the trunk and ran the wires and vacuum tubes under the trim which made the entire system completely hidden. I had to add about 18 inches to each vacuum tube to reach the connections. I drove the car a few miles and found some contact with the cylinder when moving my foot to the brake pedal. I then moved the vacuum cylinder to the right side of the brake arm and as high as it could be mounted. This works with little contact with my foot. I adjusted the setting to about 4 inches more vacuum on the gage to compensate for the cylinder now located closer to the pivot point of the brake arm. I had an opportunity for a road test today when I took my rig to my RV dealer for some work. That is 60 miles each way and involves descending Black Mountain on I40. This is about 1000 ft. drop in elevation in 4 miles. The SMI brake system worked well. The control knob setting is about 1/4 inch from the top. It does not engage with light braking but turns on with a little more deceleration. I even got an opportunity to use the PANIC feature from 45 MPH when a driver stopped dead in the road to make a left turn without signaling. This is when one really needs a brake on the Toad. It worked perfectly. I am happy that now my rig is legal in any state and I want to thank you for bringing the Stay-In-Play to my attention. I have attached three pictures of the installation. Thanks for your help, G.L. NC
